Casa Grande Program

This program offers two transportation options. Seniors 60 and over and disabled individuals 18 and over may purchase cab coupons for a nominal cost of $2.50 per book of $10.00 coupons. They also can choose to be reimbursed fifty cents per mile, up to 400 miles per month. Reimbursements will then, in turn, be used to reimburse friends, neighbors and relatives for the cost of gasoline when they volunteer to provide rides for seniors.

Applications for the program are available by calling Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens, the Area Agency on Aging for Region V, at 520-836-2758. Applications are available to be picked up at the Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center, 405 E. 6th Street, Casa Grande.

The program was developed in response to area needs assessments that prioritized the lack of transportation for seniors as a major problem. It is modeled after successful programs already in place in the cities of Mesa and Apache Junction. The City of Casa Grande and Central Arizona Association of Government has allocated state LTAF II transportation funding for this program to Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens to address this issue.

Seniors 60 and over and disabled individuals 18 and over who are unable to drive or have to depend on friends or relatives for trips to the doctor, grocery store, senior center, church or to visit friends now have options.

Because of rising gasoline costs this new Senior Rider Assistance Program should make it a lot easier for seniors to find the rides they need.

Mammoth Program

The Rider's Assistance Program (RAP) is a mileage reimbursement program for senior passengers who rely on their volunteers, friends,, neighbors, or relatives for transportation.

Any permanent City of Mammoth resident 60 years of age or older can apply for RAP. (RAP does not reimburse Seniors who have their own vehicle and are physically able to drive).

Those who apply for this program choose their own volunteer driver (friend, volunteer, neighbor, or relative).  Mileage is paid to the RAP passenger at 50 cents per mile for the purpose of reimbursing their chosen volunteer driver when the passenger travels in the driver's car.  Maximum limit for one calendar month is 400 miles.

To apply for the Rider's Assistance Program call our office at 1-800-293-9393 to request an application, or download an application from above.  Fill out the application and return it to Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens.  We will notify you of your acceptance to the program.
