Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens, Inc. is designated by the State of Arizona as an Area Agency on Aging serving Pinal and Gila counties. As an Area Agency on Aging, PGCSC is part of a national network of more than 650 organizations established under the Older Americans Act.

As an Area Agency on Aging, PGCSC responds to community needs through a comprehensive planning process. PGCSC provides services and programs directly or through contracts with local service providers to assist older adults and adults with disabilities to remain in their home as long as possible. To assure an effective and efficient service delivery system, PGCSC monitors its contractors and the service provided and provides technical assistance and support as needed.

As a part of its planning process, PGCSC must take into consideration a variety of community needs and work diligently to assure an adequate funding base to meet the needs of a rapidly growing elderly population. To that end, PGCSC works cooperatively with the community and provider agencies under the direction of its Board of Directors, Advisory Council and the President/CEO.

A letter From the President/CEO

Olivia GuerreroAs Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens prepares for the future growth of our aging population we must continue to be proactive in planning and building a quality comprehensive service delivery system that fulfills our mission in enhancing senior’s ability to “age in place” in their own homes and communities while maintaining their health and independence.

We enter into our 35th year of serving seniors in Pinal and Gila counties with an energized Board of Directors and Area Agency Advisory Council leading our way. Together this 25 member team of community volunteers represents the finest aging advocates any Area Agency on Aging in the state or nation would want or need.

We are fortunate to have knowledgeable and caring staff that are seen as experts in the field of aging. We are also extremely proud of the work our Provider Agencies, Senior Center Network and volunteers provide, for they are the miracle workers who serve our seniors in their homes and communities day after day. They are the individuals who wrap the wounds of the sick, bath the frail, drive seniors to purchase their groceries, hammer the nails to repair their homes, build the handicap accessible ramps, cook and hand deliver nutritious meals and give that smile that brightens the day of the isolated homebound senior.

Dwindling Federal and State funds call for us to become more resourceful in meeting our waiting lists and un-served and underserved senior population. Challenges we face now and in the future will become our opportunity to demonstrate just how fortunate we are to have that “just rural enough neighborhood type of support”.

It is our goal to seek and pilot new and innovative private/public business partnerships and programs that meet our growing senior needs. We believe the creation of our new 501 (c) 3 foundation called “Pinal-Gila Seniors Foundation, Inc.” will help open the door to meet the future needs of our Pinal and Gila Seniors.
